The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, has given orders for the deployment of adequate police operational and intelligence resources to ensure security and maintain peace during the planned protests by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and its affiliate organizations in the state.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Tuesday in Enugu, Commissioner Uzuegbu emphasized the importance of peaceful conduct of the protests. While acknowledging the right of the organizers to express their grievances through protests, he warned against any actions that could disrupt public peace.

The commissioner cautioned the leadership of the NLC in the state to conduct the protests responsibly, ensuring that their members do not engage in activities that could lead to chaos or disturbances. He stated that “miscreants should steer clear of the protests, as police will not hesitate to deal decisively with individuals found acting contrary to the law.”
