The Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barr Julius Abure, has stated that he will not participate in the party’s upcoming governorship primaries for Edo State. Abure made this known during a press conference held at the party secretariat in Abuja.
He denied being involved in any alleged forgery within the party, stating that he took time to react to the alleged forgery because some people may believe it was true. Abure also stated that he will ensure that the primaries are conducted freely, fairly and credibly.
On the issue of threats to his life, Abure said he has made a formal complaint to authorities. “We have made several reports on it. I won’t dwell much on that,” he said while assuring members of his party of a level playing ground for all.
Abure also stated that the issue of placeholders is now a thing of the past, as the party now has qualified people competing for elections. “We just conducted elections in Kogi Bayelsa and Imo. Those candidates emerged and formed part of the election. So, the issue of placeholder is now a thing of the past,” he said while dispelling allegations of forgery levelled against him.
