Twenty of the 39 commissioner nominees sent to the Lagos State House of Assembly by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have been selected.
This is despite concerns raised by lawmakers and an Islamic group.
The screening began on Sunday, a statement from the Chamber’s information officer, Bisola Branco-Ademola, said on Monday.
“All cabinet nominees are expected to have been vetted by Wednesday, when the exercise is expected to end,” he said.

The governor submitted the names of the nominees on July 28, but lawmakers objected, saying some areas of local government were not represented.
Criticism that followed the list was further heightened when a group of Islamic clerics and scholars described the composition of the nominees “as a continuation of the governor’s long-standing bias against Muslims in the state.”
They said the list exhibited a “callous insensitivity to diversity, equity and justice.” But the governor denied the accusation.

On Monday, a committee chaired by Mojeed Fatai, Speaker of the Chamber, assessed Adetoke Benson-Awoyinka, Mr. Sanwo-Olu’s former immediate special adviser on housing, and Bola Olumegbon Lawal, former executive secretary of the Development Area of the Local Council of Yaba (LCA).
Others projected are Yakoob Alebiosu, Idris Aregbe, Abdul-Kabir Ogungbo, Oreoluwa finnih-Awokoya, Abiola Olowu, Adekunle Olayinka, Mosopefolu George and Aramide Adeyoye.
On Sunday, Mobolaji Ogunlende, Olamide Babatunde, Lawal Pedro and Afolabi Ayantayo, former immediate special adviser to the governor on parastatal monitoring, were examined.
Others include Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Olugbenga Olaniyi, Ogunwuyi Ekundayo, Ibrahim Layode, a former Badagry State legislator, Adetokunbo Wahab and Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu.
House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa had recently formed the 12-man ad-hoc committee for the exercise.

The committee must report to the House when it next meets.
At the start of the screening, the committee leader noted that the task before lawmakers was in line with a provision of the 1999 Constitution.
“The House of Assembly is mandated to select and confirm nominees for the post of commissioners and special advisers,” he said.
“Remember that on July 28, 2023, the executive governor of Lagos State submitted a total of 39 nominees for commissioners and special advisers,” he said, adding that the committee’s recommendation would be submitted to the House.
Committee members include Adedamola Kasumu, Ajomale Oladipo, Saheed Babafemi, Nureni Akinsanya and Ajani Owolabi.
The others are Sa’ad Olumo, Sanni Okanlawon, Adewale Temitope, Ajayi Oladele, Abdulkareem Jubril and Orekoya Abiodun.
