According to a report by Channels Television, the Federal Government has vowed to award the Super Eagles for their passion and determination to reaching the final of the current Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The Nigerian squad had to fight hard in their semi-final encounter against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Wednesday, finally prevailing 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal time.
Following the hard-fought victory, Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was in the stands to support the Eagles yesterday, reminded the players and their officials in the changing room that the government and people of Nigeria are pleased of their achievement.
This was announced on Thursday via a post on the Super Eagles X (previously Twitter) account.
The VP was joined to the Eagles’ dressing room following the game by Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Minister for Youth Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, Oil billionaire Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council Member Amaju Pinnick, and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
