This weekend marks the start of South South Media Week (SSMW) 2026 in Port Harcourt. The event’s organizers have positioned it as a forum to discuss the Niger Delta’s economic potential and difficulties.
The Grace Place on Evo Road in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) will host the two-day conference on May 8 and 9, which will bring together legislators, business executives, technological innovators, and creatives.
The event, which is currently in its seventh edition, has developed into a regional get-together centered on conversations about innovation, value creation, and economic sustainability.
According to the organizers, this year’s theme, “Bold & Deeper,” represents a move away from superficial participation and toward deeper fundamental approaches to economic development.
The conference’s goal, according to convener Tammy Halliday, is to address the region’s present economic situation and promote more strategic thinking.

Additionally, Halliday emphasized that the Niger Delta must transcend its historical function as a resource-producing area.

According to the event’s organizers, there will be panel discussions, keynote addresses, and measures to promote up-and-coming talent, such as grants and acknowledgment for those who have contributed to the growth of the area.
Organizations like Spotify, Cribz, Hop Services, The Reach, Buzz Africa PR, and AI Advantage Hub are supporting the 2026 edition.
