In a report by Punch, a Nigerian soldier, identified as Adie Paul, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s decision to reward Super Eagles players with houses, plots of land, and national honors for their second-place finish in the recent African Cup of Nations.
Paul expressed his discontent on his social media account, highlighting the lack of similar recognition for soldiers on the battlefield, including himself, who sustained a bullet injury while serving in the North East.
He shared his frustration in response to a post on social media that pointed out the perks received by footballer Ahmed Musa, even though he did not play in the AFCON, while soldiers like Paul have not received medals or recognition for their service to Nigeria.
Tinubu had conferred the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger on every member of the Super Eagles team that won the silver medal at AFCON.
