Senator Ogun West, Solomon Adeolasays he has identified the killers of his top aide, Adeniyi Sanni, who was shot dead in Lagos in the early hours of Saturday 5 August.
Mr. Sanni was shot dead on his way home, and his body was later dumped near a military barracks around the Toyota bus stand, Oshodi.
Mr Adeola, chairman of the Senate Appropriation Committee, said an investigation into the incident revealed that the deceased was shot by some yet to be identified Nigerian army officers who were monitoring checkpoints around the Ikeja axis of Lagos state.
The senator made the allegation in a statement that he personally signed on Monday and made available to the press.
Adeola said an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of his aide revealed that soldiers stopped the deceased’s car at a military checkpoint in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos and asked him to provide ownership documents for the car that drove.

The senator further explained that, at that time, Mr. Sanni did not have the ownership documents for the car and therefore had to call his wife on the phone to send the documents to her phone via WhatsApp.
“Available information about the circumstances indicates that Mr. Sanni was stopped at a checkpoint around the Ojodu-Berger Area of Lagos on his way to his home in Isheri by “security agents” who asked him to provide the documents of the car he was in. driving, which he did through a call to his wife who sent all the documents to his WhatsApp phone.
“It is learned that the wife called a while later, and the late Mr. Sanni told her that the soldiers were still checking the paper of the vehicle. That was the last he heard from her husband, and Mr. Sanni’s body, riddled with bullets, was later discovered in the area of the Toyota bus stand in Oshodi, near a military barracks,” it reads. in the statement.
The senator urged Army Chief of Staff Taoreed Lagbaja to lead an immediate investigation into the murder and prosecute any of his officers found guilty of the crime as armed robberies and murders have been repeatedly established against soldiers. who stand guard late at night. checkpoints around Ikeja.
