Emergency Medical Services responded to an accident after being called by members of the public and on arrival, a male pedestrian was certified dead.
On Thursday afternoon, 1 February 2024, a male pedestrian was hit by a red VW Polo on Allendale Road near Midrand. Paramedics were called to the scene and when they arrived, the victim was declared dead.
A case of culpable homicide is opened at the police station and events leading up to the accident will be investigated by the South African Police Service, there is a possibility that the driver of the Polo will be arrested if it is found that he broke the law.
Motorists should avoid speeding in areas where there is a heavy movement of pedestrians, always insure to drive according to the speed limit that are displayed by the signs and always give right of way to pedestrian crossing the road.
