Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, widely known as Phyna, and the victor of the Level Up season of the prominent reality show, Big Brother Naija, has boldly asserted her role as a trailblazer for hype women in Nigeria, The Nation reported.
In a recent episode of her podcast, ‘Spill with Phyna,’ the reality TV star shared insights into her journey, highlighting her emergence as a prominent figure in the realm of hype women.
Phyna recounted her experience, noting that prior to her stint on the reality show, she was the sole hype woman in Abuja. However, upon her return, she noticed a surge in the number of hype girls, attributing this phenomenon to her influence.
Asserting her pioneering status, Phyna asserted, “Whether they admit it or not, I was the one who paved the way for them.” She elaborated on how her success post-Big Brother Naija inspired others to pursue similar paths in the field of hyping.
Phyna further revealed her observations during a visit to Ghana, where she encountered numerous hype girls who expressed admiration for her work. She emphasized the impact of her visibility on social media platforms, with many individuals in the hyping community following her on Instagram.
Reflecting on her journey, Phyna emphasized the importance of acknowledging those who paved the way before her. She urged aspiring hype women to recognize the trailblazers in their field, emphasizing that inspiration often stems from witnessing others succeed.
“Tomorrow now, somebody would say no one paved the way for me. No, you saw someone do it first and you wanted to do it. For me, I saw someone do it first before I did it,” remarked Phyna, underscoring the significance of acknowledging one’s predecessors.
