In response to receiving The Sun Awards, Obi expressed his usual reluctance to accept accolades during challenging times but acknowledged the significance of this particular honor. He emphasized its focus on recognizing individuals committed to realizing Nigeria’s potential as a nation.
In a statement issued shortly after receiving the award, the former governor of Anambra State dedicated the recognition to the millions of suffering Nigerians facing uncertainty about their next meals, emphazing his dedication to addressing their plight.
