Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, recently stated that Buhari’s signature was forged and used to release $6.2 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria in February 2023. He said the funds were purportedly allocated for foreign observers ahead of the 2023 general elections.
In an interview with Arise TV, Abayomi Arabambi, the factional National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, reacted to Mustapha’s statement. He expressed concern over the forgery of President Buhari’s signature to facilitate the unauthorized release of funds. He emphasized the importance of holding accountable those responsible for such criminal acts, stressing that allowing such behavior to go unpunished would only lead to further misconduct.
In Arabambi’s words: “People forged Buhari’s signature to pay $6.2million to people who came to oversee our election. This kind of thing should not be allowed to go unpunished because they will continue. What about the bank MDs, they know and they are hearing me, have they been able to give returns back to the CBN?”.
