Okey Ahiwe, the candidate for Imo State’s 2023 gubernatorial election under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), responded to his loss at the tribunal.
Lagos Reporters reports that the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia on Friday confirmed Alex Otti as the Governor of Abia State and affirmed his victory in the March 18, 2023 elections.
Victor Nwokocha, media adviser to Ahiwe, conveyed the candidate’s gratitude to his supporters, legal team, family, friends, and associates who have stood by him during this difficult time. Ahiwe expressed confidence in the Judiciary and reassured his supporters, legal team, and family that there is no need for panic. He firmly believes that truth and justice will ultimately prevail.
Ahiwe, who contested in the March 18 election as a PDP candidate, stated that his legal team will carefully scrutinize the tribunal’s judgment and advise him on the next course of action.
“Chief Ahiwe called on his teeming supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that, following due consultations with his legal team and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leadership, he would keep them informed on the direction to take”, the statement said.
