On Friday, Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, asked a fan who was cycling from Benue to send him his account details and promised to meet him when he returns to Nigeria.
Davido had asked a fan of his, who is said to be on a bike trip from Benue to Lagos on Thursday, to turn around as he (Davido) is currently not around.
The fan, known as @emmiwuks, on August 4, announced via Twitter that he would be embarking on a bike ride from Benue to Lagos to see his musical idol, Davido.
He wrote: “Benue to Lagos by bike, to congratulate and present my special award and gift to one of the music industry’s living legends @davido for this sweet #Timeless masterpiece album.”
But Emmiwuks, in a tweet early Friday morning, expressed his determination to complete his journey and fulfill his mission.
“I’m not coming back, boss. I must present you my gift @davido. The state of Benin is addressing Ogun any time from now…” he replied.

Big Brother Titans winner Khosi Twala survived a horrifying car accident with her mother, a friend and other contestants.
The accident occurred on Sunday morning during a leisure getaway in Mozambique.
When the accident happened, the South African reality star was in the car with her mother, Mmeli Khumalo, and her friend Marvin Achi, a Big Brother Titans contestant.

Although the accident resulted in minor injuries, the rescue team immediately took them to a nearby medical center for treatment.
Reports of the accident left her followers anxious until she assured them of her safety through an Instagram video.
She wrote: “I can attest that miracles do happen. Thank you all for including me in your prayers. #Safe at home”.
These events occurred just days before Khosi’s 26th birthday on August 10, 2023.
Nigerian comedian AY Makun’s Lagos home catches fire
On Sunday, the home of Nigerian comedian and showbiz entrepreneur Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, was razed.
However, the cause of the fire was unknown.
After the video circulated on social media, fans were concerned for AY’s well-being as it was unknown if he was in the house at the time of the fire. His colleagues also expressed concern for the comedian, praying for his safety on social media.
Later, AY took to her Instagram page and posted a video reflecting on the most important things, her family and God. She also posted a video and two photos of him, his wife, and his youngest daughter and expressed her excitement to join them in the United States soon, since they were not in the country at the time of the fire.
Macaroni criticizes the president of the Nigerian Senate
Nigerian parody creator Debo Adebayo, better known as Mr Macaroni, criticized the National Assembly leaders for their lavish lifestyle amid the unbearable hardships of Nigerians.
On Wednesday, Mr. Macaroni made this known via an X post in response to a viral video circulating on social media. In the video, Senate President Godswill Akpabio informed Senate members that they had been assigned to “enjoy their vacation.”

In response to the video, the creator of the parody questioned the president of the Nigerian Senate and the other leaders. His post: “These are the leaders who have called on struggling Nigerians to make sacrifices if they want things to work in the country. So while Nigerians are going through excruciating hardship, our leaders are sending themselves money to enjoy the holidays.”
In a second tweet, he wrote: “The President of the Senate has sent very expensive prayers for the insufficient blessings of more than 200 million people for him and his already blessed colleagues in the National Assembly.”
Mr. Macaroni’s activism was evident at the ENDSARS protest in 2020.
Laptop attacked in Lekki
Controversial street hip-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was attacked in the Lekki area of Lagos state.
Portable made this known in a video shared to its Instagram Story on Tuesday.
In a clip trending online, the singer was caught in the company of his crew members and was heard venting his anger, capturing his artist with injuries.
Portable said he was shopping for clothes with his newly hired artist when they were attacked.
“My boy’s eyes have been broken. He won’t be okay with Lekki. I will take care of you if you dare to come to Sango,” she threatened.

Nollywood actor, model and singer Joseph Benjamin recently shared a moving account of his uphill battle while trying to establish himself in the United States.
In an interview with media personality Teju Babyface Oyelakin, the actor revealed that his American venture took an unexpected turn, leading him to take on an unexpected role as a taxi driver to make ends meet.
Benjamin, who moved to the US in 2016, said he left the country hoping to start a film career abroad. Yet the promising film performances he had anticipated quickly turned disappointing, forcing him to reevaluate his options.
Reminiscing about the difficult times, the actor said, “I came to the United States with the promise that I had some jobs waiting for me. So I thought I was going to have a soft landing there. I packed everything from Nigeria, bought a one-way ticket and came to the United States.
“Then two days later the person I was supposed to do a deal with told me, ‘Those our financiers have withdrawn. They have a problem. So, I said, what do I do? He said, ‘Starting next month, you’ll have to start paying rent on this house.’ A month’s rent amount was equivalent to a year’s rent in Nigeria.”
In addition to his role as a cab driver, Benjamin recounted working a number of odd jobs, including working in cold storage at Publix and delivering packages using Amazon trucks to make ends meet.
“I Used to Sell Akara with Mom” - Don Jazzy
Nigerian musician and music producer Michael Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy, has stated that his driving force is the memory of selling akara with his mother in Ajegunle.
The Mavin Records founder was a guest on the Zero Conditions podcast, where he discussed his childhood experience selling akara with his mother, hoping “big clients” would take notice and offer him money.

Late actress Iyabo Iko buried in Ife
The late veteran Nollywood actress Sidikat Odukanwi, better known as Iyabo Oko, was laid to rest in Ife, Osun state on Thursday.
Iyabo Iko died on June 28. She was 61 years old.
The deceased’s daughter, Bisi Aisha, posted a notice of her mother’s passing on Instagram.
Iyabo Iko began acting as a teenager in 1973 with the Eda Onileola Theater Company before becoming famous for her role in ‘Oko’ in 1993.

BBN Frodd, wife, welcome baby
On Friday, Big Brother Naija’s housemate Chukwuemeka Okoye, aka Frodd, welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Chioma.
Frodd, currently on Big Brother’s reality show All Stars, broke the news of his daughter’s birth to his housemates on Friday night.
He also revealed the name he and his wife had chosen for their newborn: “Adaora Chioma Elena Okoye.”
She also shared that the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s birth were extraordinary. The only other housemate to achieve this feat was Kess from the previous season.
Pray for my death if I consult demons – Pastor Adeboye
Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has urged his congregation to pray for his death if he consults demons.
The cleric’s request came Friday in response to allegations that he uses demonic powers to perform miracles.
At the ongoing RCCG Convention at the church camp along the Lagos-Ibadan highway, Mr Adeboye said he has never been in cahoots with the devil.
The 81-year-old cleric said he wanted to ignore the allegations, but “I felt a leadership as I prayed that some people might believe these things.”
“Usually I don’t pay attention to the sayings of some of the so-called prophets. Mainly if they’re saying something about me. I just ignore them. But I learned that recently some people say that Pastor Adebayo is using demonic forces.
That there are some demons in Redemption Camp. That Pastor Adebayo will consult them. Then he’ll come and say, ‘My dad said.’ And I just said I’m not going to pay attention.
“Then they put this on the internet. And then as I was praying, I think about three days ago, praying for the convention naturally, I felt the direction. I felt that there might be some people who might believe these things. I want you to settle that matter today. I want you to say a prayer. And please let us pray with all our hearts. I want you to call out to God if Pastor Adeboye is contacting the devil one way or another. That is if there is any connection between him and the forces of darkness. You are going to call upon Almighty God. Kill him before the sun rises so he doesn’t spoil your name. So that he doesn’t lead several innocent people to hell.
“Then you will increase the power. But if this guy is using your power and your power alone, he multiplies that power in multiple folds.”
