Nigerian billionaire and businessman, Femi Otedola, shared his last moments with Herbert Wigwe, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, who tragically lost his life alongside his wife and son in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border in California, United States, on Friday according to punch.
The ill-fated chopper also carried Abimbola Ogunbajo, former chairman of Nigeria Exchange Group, and two others.
Following the official confirmation of Wigwe’s death by the management of Access Holdings Plc, Otedola took to his official platform on Sunday to express his grief, describing the loss as that of
“a banking genius.”
He fondly recalled how just two weeks before his untimely demise, Wigwe had hosted him and fellow businessman Aliko Dangote for dinner at his newly built home in Lagos.
Otedola expressed his gratitude for the cherished memories and emphasized that Wigwe’s legacy will endure.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to Wigwe’s children Tochi, Hannah, and David, praying for God’s comfort during this tragic time.
Similarly, Wale Tinubu, the Group Chief Executive of Ondo Plc, mourned the passing of Wigwe, expressing deep sadness over the loss.
In a heartfelt post shared via his official platform on Sunday, Tinubu reflected on his friendship with Wigwe, emphasizing his remarkable qualities as a gentleman, family man, and banking entrepreneur.
Tinubu recalled their shared vision of building indigenous global brands and praised Wigwe’s instrumental role in the success of Access Bank.
He lamented the loss of Wigwe’s vision for developing the next generation through Wigwe University, emphasizing his dedication to family and his profound impact on others.
