Soaking okra pods in water for up to 24 hours yields a drink known as “okra water.” Among other health benefits, its proponents assert that it enhances blood sugar regulation and accelerates weight loss. It’s also thought of as a practical substitute for okra, particularly for people who don’t like the distinct flavor and texture of okra.
Is there nutrition in okra water
Okra itself is a good source of several important vitamins and minerals, although it’s unclear what exactly the water made from it contains nutritionally.Okra water may assist to normalize blood sugar levels, according to certain research. Okra has a number of substances, including as flavonoids and polyphenols, which some reviews claim may lower blood sugar levels. Additionally, okra powder supplementation decreased insulin resistance in an 8 week study of 60 individuals with type two diabetes, suggesting that this may help with improved blood sugar regulation.
Additionally, okra extract may change the expression of specific enzymes and proteins to help prevent diabetes-related nephropathy, a consequence of diabetes that affects the kidneys, according to a test tube study. Still, additional long-term human research are required as these trials did not explicitly look at the impact of okra water.
