Norwich City and some other Championship clubs are interested in recruiting the services of Arsenal assistant manager Carlos Cuesta at the end of the season, according to the Guardian.
The 28-year-old has been with the Gunners since 2020 after joining from Juventus to work with Mikel Arteta.
Cuesta began coaching at Atletico Madrid in 2014 as an 18-year-old and is one of Arteta’s closest confidantes.
The Spaniard is widely rated as one of the world’s best young coaches, and an opportunity to become a first-team manager at a club like Norwich could be too tempting for him to turn down.
The Canaries sporting director Ben Knapper was the loans manager at Arsenal before leaving last November, and Cueta is believed to be open to working with him again after they built a strong relationship together.
The Gunners are expected to reject any approaches from Norwich and other clubs for their assistant manager, and it will be intriguing to see whether Cueta wants to remain with Arsenal or is keen to move on and start his own managerial career.
David Wagner could be shown the exit door at the end of the season following a mixed campaign, and Knapper has been impressed with the Gunners assistant manager after his impressive role as individual development coach.
Cueta has mostly focused on improving tactical understanding with the Arsenal players, and an exit could be the cards very soon even if he remains with the North London club beyond the summer.
