Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof Chidi Odinkalu has said Nigerians got the change Former President Muhammadu Buhari promised in 2015. Prof Odinkalu said Nigerians did not ask what manner of change before electing the former President in 2015.
He said change could be positive or negative and the former President did not promise he will bring change for the better.
Speaking with Seun Okinbaloye on Mic on podcast, he said: “In 2015, Buhari promised Nigerians change, people were so gangled about getting rid of Jonathan, no one asked him what manner of change. Let’s be clear, Nigerians got what Buhari promised, they got change.
Now after they got change, they then started asking questions they should have asked before Buhari came to embody change, which is what manner of change.
Change is a value distro expression. It can be positive, it can be negative. Change can be constructive, it can be destructive. It can be benevolent, it can be malevolent.
How your change works for you depends on how you want it to work. Buhari did not say I will bring change for the better, he said I’ll give you change. And he was change.”
