Some Nigerian students were winners and medalists in the recently concluded Global Finals competition in London, UK.
The Global Finals is a competition organized by the teenage eaglean organization in London whose aim is to use English language competitions to encourage the development of a shared sense of identity.
The organization said it also spends valuable time promoting diversity and innovative thinking.
Alumni from the Nigerian Turkish International Colleges (NTIC), Abuja, represented Nigeria in the competition which attracted participation from more than a dozen other countries.
Other countries whose students participated in the contest include the United Kingdom, South Africa, Malaysia, Brazil, Angola, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Tanzania, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan.
Nigerian students shine in global competition
Competition categories include knowledge test, writing challenge, spelling bee, and persuasive speech.
Winners
At the end of the competition, four Nigerian students won a gold medal in quizzes, spelling bees, writing challenges and persuasion skills.
In the world contest students won 11 silver medals and 14 bronze medals. Other students also received honorable mentions in the contest.
While Alyssa Onyawole won the gold medal in the writing and persuasive speech challenge, Aliyu Abdulazeez, Samuel Ihechiluru and Sakina Muhammad took their gold medals in the quiz and spelling bees.
The silver medalists for the bee and spelling bee are Freedah Inamah, Farid Ahmed, Agboje Aniagwu, Muhammad Awwal, Soromidayo Jadesola and Daisy Chiamaka.
In the writing and persuasion skills challenge, Nusaybah Tafidah, Samuel Ihechiluru, Dawn Chiagoziem, Ashfat Issa, Daisy Chiamka and Enyi Nwafor won silver medals.
Meanwhile, alumni who earned bronze medals in the quiz and spelling bee include Dawn Chiagozem, Fatima Bashir, Zainab Abduhakeem, Fatima Aliyu, Alyssa Yusuf, and Zeenat Usman.
The bronze medalists in the writing and persuasion skills challenge are Fredah Inamah, Zainab Auwal, Amina Rajab, Fatima Bashir, Muhammed Awwal, Oluchi Stephanie, Zainab Abdulhakeem, and Fatima Aliyu.
