Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) troops of the Joint Task Force Northeast have successfully carried out an ambush at the crossing point of suspected Boko Haram terrorists (BHT) along Kuka in the government area local Konduga in Borno state.
Army Public Relations Director Onyema Nwachukwu, Brigadier General, made it known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Nwachukwu said the troops waited for the terrorists before engaging them in a fierce firefight that killed two while others fled in disorder.
He said the brave troops recovered 63 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED) shell, five Pento shots and the sum of N19,460.
“Similarly, following aggressive operations by troops against Boko Haram terrorist enclaves, a notorious terrorist surrendered to troops from Battalion 222 at Geizuwa in the Konduga Local Government Area.
“Items recovered from the suspect include an AK47 rifle, a magazine, and 26 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
“The suspect is currently being profiled to take the necessary steps.
“The Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General. Taoreed Lagbaja, has praised the high level of alertness and fighting spirit of the troops.
“He urged them to keep up the momentum and ensure that the remnants of terrorists and bandits in their areas of responsibility are completely eliminated,” Nwachukwu said.
