The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) says that the troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the last two weeks it neutralized 28 terrorists, apprehended 113 and rescued 82 victims in various operations throughout the country.
Defense Media Operations Director Edward Buba, a major general, had this to say while briefing reporters on the armed forces’ operations across the country on Thursday in Abuja.
Buba said the detained suspects included 92 terrorists, six arms dealers, three kidnappers, six collaborators and seven oil theft perpetrators.
He said troops also recovered 108 weapons and 564 ammunition comprising 22 AK47 rifles, one PKT pistol, six pump-action pistols, four Dane pistols, one manufactured rifle, one Ace Galil rifle, one RGP pump, one RPG tube and 44 hand grenades.
“Also recovered were 322 rounds of 7.62mm special, 63 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, 12 rounds of 5.6mm ammunition, 33 AK47 magazines, one empty box of 7.62mm special and 3 empty magazines. .
“Other items include; 14 motorcycles, 16 mobile phones, 3 Motorola radios, one Boafeng radio, 2 motorcycle tires, 5 flashlights, 2 solar panels, 104 animals and the sum of N2.8 million,” he said.
Buba said that troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed 36 wells, 62 wooden boats, 73 storage tanks, one vehicle and 75 cooking ovens during the period.
He added that the troops also seized four pumping machines, five outboard motors and 33 illegal refining sites, as well as the recovery of one million 166 thousand 900 liters of stolen crude, one million 491 thousand 250 liters of illegally refined AGO, 54 thousand 750 liters of DPK and 800 liters of PMS.
In the northeast, Buba said Operation Hadin Kai troops killed seven terrorists, arrested five and rescued 31 hostages, while 28 relatives of the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, nine adult women and 19 children, were also killed. rescued and detained. .
He said that the troops recovered; 20 AK47 rifles, one FN rifle, one Galileo rifle, three Dane machine guns, one AK47 rifle loaded with 17 cartridges of 7.62 mm special, 154 cartridges of 7.62 mm special, 63 cartridges of 12.7 mm ammunition, among others.
In the center-north, Buba said Operation Safe Haven troops killed two gunmen, rescued two hostages and arrested six kidnappers, as well as recovered weapons and ammunition during the period.
He said troops detained a notorious kidnapping gang leader and other foot soldiers in the Mangu and Bokkos local government areas in the Plateau.
In the northwest, he said Operation Hadarin Daji troops continued to degrade terrorists in Katsina, Kaduna, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
He said that the troops neutralized 13 terrorists, arrested seven, two informants and two collaborators, as well as rescued 16 hostages and recovered seven AK47 rifles, one PKT pistol, one AK47 rifle loaded with 18 rounds of 7.62mm special, five AK47 magazines and 20 rounds of 7.62mm special.
“Others include; six motorcycles, three mobile phones, three Motorola radios, a radio charger, two solar panels, an old sewing machine, a pair of forest camouflage and the sum of N2.4 million,” he said.

In the southeast, Buba said Operation UDO KA troops eliminated three IPOB/ESN terrorists and recovered four pump-action pistols, a single barrel loaded with 100 live cartridges, a locally made rifle and three live cartridges.
“The troops also arrested 18 terrorists and rescued two kidnapped hostages.
“All recovered items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages have been handed over to the relevant authority for further action.
“The listed operations are indicative of the professionalism of the men and women of the armed forces, their courage and bravery.
“The troops will continue to use superior military force to eliminate any group or groups that pose a threat to the security of citizens and the forces themselves alike,” Buba said.
