According to the Defense Headquarters, the troops of the armed forces killed 23 terrorists in nine weeks, arrested 109 criminals and five kidnappers.
It also said that one informant and 22 suspected oil thieves were arrested during the period across the country.
Defense Media Operations Director Edward Buba added in a statement on Friday that the troops had also rescued 41 kidnapped hostages.
Buba, a major general, said 23 terrorists and their families, including 25 adult men, 63 adult women and 143 children, had surrendered to troops in the northeast.
It added that the troops recovered 41 weapons and 300 weapons consisting of 14 AK47 rifles, one AK49 rifle, two AK47 rifles loaded with 7.62mm special ammunition and one PKT weapon.
Others, according to him, included a light machine gun, two pump-action pistols, two locally made pistols, three locally made rifles, two Danish pistols, a pistol and two locally made long-barreled pistols.
“In addition, the troops recovered an AK47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1 AK47 magazine, one magazine loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 239 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition mm, five rounds of 7.62 NATO, 44 rounds of PKT, 5 rounds of 9mm ammunition and six rounds.
“In addition, the troops recovered 13 motorcycles, 22 mobile phones, a bicycle, 10 machetes and a pair of camouflage.”
He added that the operations in the South-South geopolitical zone made it possible to recover 682,400 liters of stolen crude, 70,950 liters of illegally refined AGO and 23,250 liters of DPK.
“All of this amounts to an estimated 414.3 million naira denied to oil thieves,” the defense spokesman said.
Buba said that the military will continue to relentlessly persecute violent groups that instigate insecurity and instability in the country.
He assured that the troops would continue to make improvements to ensure the safety of citizens and restore security throughout the country.
