President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with former military president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida during his one-day state visit to Niger. The meeting took place at Babangida’s residence in Minna. Tinubu had just left the inauguration of the Agric Mechanisation Revolution Project of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago when he visited Babangida.
According to Leadership, Tinubu spent over an hour discussing national issues with Babangida. During his visit to the state, Tinubu promised to find lasting solutions to the problems affecting the livestock sector of agriculture. Only Governor Bago was present at the meeting.
Babangida offered Tinubu advice as a statesman and stressed the need to urgently act on his promises. He also advised that all government programmes should target the common man and promised to open his door to all leaders. However, he insisted on maintaining the country’s unity.
