During yesterday’s Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition’s Summit Meeting in Nairobi, the former prime minister Raila Odinga issued another directive to ODM leaders stopping succession talks.
As relayed by a report covered on Wednesday’s Standard publication, a source claims Mr Odinga asked them to remain united as he’s still in the country for one year and a half.
According to Mr Odinga, he’s not assured of the seat since African countries like Madagascar and Morocco have already fielded their candidates.
” He asked us to remain united since he’s here for one year and the issue of succession can be dealt with once he secures the seat. According to Raila, he’s not assured of the seat as Madagascar and Morocco have already fielded their candidates and the issue of succession should be toned down”, the source intimates.
This comes despite receiving backing from President William Ruto, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu, DRC President Tshisekedi among others.
Mr Odinga will be as well flying to Rwanda to seek the backing of President Paul Kaguta for the African Union job.
