A BEAUTY whizz has shared how you can get rid of dark undereye bags almost instantly – and no, you don’t need a brightening concealer.
From lack of sleep to genetics, as well as ageing, there several reasons why people may have dark undereye circles – and although make-up is certainly one way to tackle the issue, a woman has shared a more natural solution with household ingredients.
That’s right, according to beauty fan Tanisha Ahuja, there’s no need to fork out on pricey concealers and skincare from the high street – the answer is most likely already sitting in your kitchen.
Taking to TikTok, Tanisha demonstrated how to tackle the common skin concern with a hack that costs just pennies – and it uses four ingredients, including your morning brew.
In her video, the stunner revealed how she makes a DIY face mask, which contains one tablespoon of ground coffee, 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric, one tablespoon of liquid honey, as well as one tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel (available on Amazon, as well as Holland & Barrett).
One all the ingredients have been mixed together in a small bowl, apply the mixture onto your face for ten to 15 minutes – and for best results, the whizz advised to incorporate this to your skincare routine two to three times a week.
”I love this home remedy, it helped me reduce the appearance of dark circles,” said Tanisha, who also posted a few snaps of herself before and after the DIY solution.
”This has been working well for me, I have been using this so for long.”
As well as raving about this at-home SPA treatment, the beauty fanatic advised fellow social media users to not forget about using sunscreen.
”This can help the skin from getting darker and getting pigmentation,” she explained in the caption.
Another skincare must-have Tanisha urged to not sleep on is a Vitamin C-based eye cream, which can also help tackle the issue.
People on TikTok were amazed by the transformation, as they raced to comments to share their thoughts.
”Will try this, your results are amazing,” one said.
However, not everyone was convinced, as some were rather sceptical.
”Different lighting though…” someone pointed out.
Why does this work?
But what’s the science behind coffee grounds and honey for improving the dark skin under your eyes?
According to the lifestyle magazine Goss, caffeine is thought to improve blood circulation which, in turn, reduces puffiness and the darker colour.
Honey, meanwhile, adds a boost of hydration and moisture to the skin.
Licensed aesthetician Melissa Jannes explained that as a diuretic – medicines that help reduce fluid build-up in the body – the caffeine in the coffee grounds is indeed a remedy worth giving a go.
Dr Amit Bangia, Senior Consultant Dermatologist, Asian Hospital, Faridabad, added that ”coffee is also anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants, which means it reduces the damage caused by lack of sleep on the skin around the eyes”, Health Shots reported.
”Additionally, caffeine in coffee has the ability to absorb accumulated water and is extremely effective in reducing puffiness and swelling around the eyes.”
