Executive Director at Authority Newspaper, Chuks Akunna, has, during an interview on Kakaaki, an AIT Television programme, said it was obvious that the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari lied when it said there was enough production of food items. He noted that Nigerians would not be facing hardship due to unavailability of food items if the Buhari administration was honest.
Chuks Akunna had said,
“Over the past 8 years, the Muhammadu Buhari administration was feeding us lies. You know, they kept telling us, at a time they came to was it Kwali and unveiled rice pyramid, and you will be asking yourself, you know, where are these rice pyramids? I mean life is about, I mean, prices are fixed by an interplay of demand and supply, you know, if you have something now — if you go to Iceland, you want to sell ice,
I don’t think anybody is going to buy ice from you, but if you go to like the Middle-East, you want to sell ice, people will buy ice because it’s hot there. So what you have in abundance, you don’t sell, so your — it means that we have been fed a lie that there’s food security, there’s enough production of food,
no problem, no problem. But now it is staring us in the face and we are trying to make emergency measures because if you import this, you know, for how long can we sustain import of — don’t forget, I think there’s a time the Buhari government stopped export of items to.”
