Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the Allied Peoples Movement presidential candidate, has unveiled his Reset Agenda manifesto ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

The plan covers the economy, education, security and the political system.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday at the manifesto launch, Makinde said he was driven by the need to tackle Nigeria’s problems and return to the vision of the country’s founding fathers.

He said his government would focus on making life easier for ordinary people, opening up opportunities and building institutions that work.

He said promises must come with clear plans, measurable targets and accountable institutions.

Seyi also argued that economic reforms mean little if they do not improve daily life.

He asked what macroeconomic stability means if ordinary Nigerians are still struggling.

On the economy, he proposed a system that would pass on extra crude oil earnings, above government budget benchmarks, to the public.

He also promised measurable performance targets within the first 100 days of his government and called for tighter accountability in public spending.

On electricity, he urged Nigerians to hold the federal government to its promise of better power supply.

He said more work is needed on generation and distribution even with the electricity autonomy law in place.

On politics, he proposed that a presidential candidate must win at least 51 per cent of the vote, which he said would encourage wider political cooperation.

He also suggested a transitional government of national unity and a national conference to agree on the country’s direction.

His running mate, Lawal Musa Daura, criticised the suppression of opposition parties and said a level playing field is essential for democracy.

He said a strong opposition helps the government and reduces political tension.

Daura named education, the economy, security and the socio-political system as the four pillars of the agenda.
