Manchester City have reportedly submitted an improved bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes.With Kevin De Bruyne currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, the Citizens are determined to bolster their midfield options in the coming days.The Premier League champions have identified Nunes as a top target, and are pushing to secure his services before Friday’s transfer deadline.The Citizens recently submitted an initial £47m offer for the Portugal international, which was swiftly rejected by Wolves.

Sevilla are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona centre-back Clement Lenglet on loan.Lenglet, who is under contract until June 2026, is expected to leave the Catalan giants before the end of the summer transfer window.The Frenchman has been linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur after making 35 appearances for the North London club during a loan spell last term.However, Lenglet is also attracting interest from another former club, with Marca reporting that Sevilla is looking to secure the defender on a loan deal.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong. The Blues have been busy strengthening in a number of areas over the summer, recruiting a number of players, including Axel Disasi, Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nknunku. While they are keen to bring in a new striker before Friday’s deadline, Chelsea are also considering whether to sign a new right-back.Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice right-back Reece James has been plagued by injury issues over the past year and the Chelsea captain is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Kieran Tierney has joined Real Sociedad on loan from Arsenal for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.The 26-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta over the past year, starting just six Premier League games during the Gunners’ title challenge last season.Tierney did feature as a substitute in Arsenal’s Community Shield win over Manchester City earlier this month, but was then left out of the matchday squad for all three of their opening Premier League games.The Scotland international has now sealed his temporary exit for the rest of the season, joining La Liga side Sociedad.

West Ham United have completed the signing of Mohammed Kudus from Ajax on a five-year deal.The 23-year-old joins the Hammers for an undisclosed fee, thought to be worth up to £38.9m, and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.Kudus had been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion before West Ham emerged as front-runners for his signature earlier this month.The Ghana international will wear the number 14 shirt and becomes West Ham’s fourth major signing of the summer, following the arrivals of his former Ajax teammate Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Manchester United have reportedly added Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon to their list of left-back targets.The Red Devils will be without first-choice option Luke Shaw for a number of weeks as the England international recovers from a serious muscular injury.In addition, Shaw’s lieutenant Tyrell Malacia is yet to make a competitive appearance this term due to a muscle issue, which is likely to keep him out until after the international break.Prior to Shaw’s diagnosis, Man United sanctioned a loan move to Ipswich Town for the out-of-favour Brandon Williams, and Diogo Dalot filled in on that side against Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham are supposedly in talks over a deal which would see Tosin Adarabioyo and Eric Dier move in opposite directions.Having formerly been a regular in the Lilywhites backline under Antonio Conte, Dier has lost his place in the Spurs setup following significant criticism of his performances.With Ange Postecoglou switching to a four-man defence and also bringing in Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg to partner Cristian Romero, Dier has not even made a Premier League squad in the 2023-24 season so far.Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies find themselves above the England international in the pecking order, and he will be free to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for nothing when his deal expires in 2024.

Manchester City reportedly remain confident of reaching an agreement to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes.The Premier League and Champions League winners have already fallen short with one offer for the Portugal international, as Wolves rebuffed their opening £47m proposal.Gary O’Neil confirmed that his side had turned down an approach from an unnamed club for Nunes last week, as the club felt that the offer did not match their valuation of the ex-Sporting Lisbon man.”He’s an important player for us who has four or five years left on his contract, but we rejected a bid because we didn’t feel it met our valuation of what Matheus is worth to us,” O’Neil told reporters before Saturday’s 1-0 win over Everton, which Nunes missed through suspension.

West Ham United have allegedly reopened talks to sign Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire.The Hammers had succeeded with a £30m offer for the former Red Devils captain, who remains on the fringes of the Man United team under Erik ten Hag.However, a deal ultimately fell through as Maguire failed to agree terms with Man United over his departure, and the Europa Conference League winners abandoned their pursuit as a result.Instead, David Moyes’s side have brought ex-Arsenal defender Dinos Mavropanos back to the Premier League from Stuttgart, and Maguire was seemingly set to remain at Old Trafford for the 2023-24 season, in spite of his struggles for minutes.

Everton are reportedly keen to sign West Ham United forward Danny Ings before the end of this summer’s transfer window.The Toffees, who have lost all three of their Premier League matches this season, are in the market for a new striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin again on the sidelines.Everton are being heavily linked with Udinese’s Beto, but a proposed move for Southampton’s Che Adams has allegedly broken down.According to The Sun, the Merseyside club’s head coach Sean Dyche is keen on a deal for Ings, who could be allowed to leave the London Stadium before the end of the window.

Sheffield United have completed the signing of striker Cameron Archer from Aston Villa.The 21-year-old joins the Blades for an undisclosed fee, thought to be worth around £18m, and has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Bramall Lane.All parties are understood to have agreed the move earlier this week, but a delay in finalising the transfer means that Archer will not be available to make his debut in this afternoon’s Premier League clash with champions Manchester City.However, the forward, who will wear the number 10 shirt, could feature for the first time during the EFL Cup second round match against Lincoln City on Wednesday.

Xavi provides update on Barcelona’s transfer activity

Barcelona head coach Xavi has reiterated that the club’s transfer activity in the remainder of the window will depend on the Financial Fair Play restrictions.The Catalan outfit have only been able to bring three new players to the club this summer due to their financial issues, with Oriol Romeu, Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez arriving at Camp Nou.There have been a number of departures, with Ousmane Dembele, Franck Kessie and Nico Gonzalez among those to be sold, while Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Samuel Umtiti have been released.Barcelona have been able to register Marcos Alonso ahead of Sunday’s clash with Villarreal, but Martinez and goalkeeper Inaki Pena have not yet been registered with La Liga.

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix will reportedly move to Saudi Arabia on a one-year loan deal if he is unable to engineer a move to Barcelona before the end of the transfer window.The Portugal international told Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano earlier this summer that he dreams of making the move to Barcelona, with the Catalan outfit said to be interested.However, Barcelona’s financial problems mean that a deal is difficult at this stage of the window, with a lot needing to happen on both sides for a move to Camp Nou to go through.According to AS, Felix already has an agreement to move to Al-Hilal on loan, which will occur if a switch to Xavi’s side does not transpire before the September deadline.
