Kenya is one of the countries that have been ranked as having the highest number of corruption incidences in its government. Although it is not yet at the level of some states in Africa, corruption cases are very high and growing every day. Efforts by the state to fight corruption have not been very fruitful because the biggest masterminds serve within the same governments and are protected.
A recent survey has revealed the top 10 most corrupt counties in the country. The list was shared by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Hon Babu Owino who has been left wondering where we are headed as a country. Below is the list of the counties and the reveals of corruption in percentage firms;
1. Nairobi County – 54.45%
2. West Pokot County – 13.87%
3. Uasin Gishu County – 3.70%
4. Kisii County – 3.16%
5. Kitui County – 2.92%
6. Meru County – 2.28%
7. Nakuru County – 1.87%
8. Murang’a County – 1.78%
9. Kiambu County – 1.44%
10. Kajiado County – 1.29%
Some of these countries were among those recently listed as having the least development in the last one and a half years. It seems like the leaders are pocketing the money instead of using it for developing their counties. It is high time that the government finds a solution to tame the problem of corruption before it gets out of hand.
