The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nyesom Wike, has vowed that the kidnappers operating in Abuja will no longer be allowed to sleep.
He said that they will take the war to them in their camps. He added that the bandits will see fire for fire.
He said that since the bandits have said that people will not sleep in Abuja, they too will not sleep.
While speaking at the flag off of the construction of Paikon-Kore Road in the Gwagwalada area of Abuja, Wike vowed that the bandits would run away.
According to the report by Channels Television, he said,
“I have assured you before that we are going to take this fight against them head in. Today, you can see that we are not letting them go. I told you all these criminals will run away.
“We will make sure they don’t sleep again. If they say we will not sleep, they too will not sleep.
A child that says the mother will not sleep, will he sleep? So, we are taking the war to them head-on. Let them wait for us, they will see fire for fire.”
In recent times, banditry and kidnapping have been on the rise in the FCT, with several innocent people kidnapped for ransom.
Some people have also been killed by the criminal elements over delay from their families to meet up with the deadline for the ransom.
The rising insecurity in Abuja has sparked a wave of concern from Nigerians, with many calling on the authorities to do something about it.
Many are hoping that, just as Wike, has promised, the menace will be tackled.
