It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of John Oboh, better known as ‘Mighty Mouse’, a well-known music producer and director. He was the creator of the Ajegunle rhythm in the 90s. Mighty Mouse passed away today, September 18, in Lagos after a long battle with an illness suspected to be cancer. A close source to the family confirmed the news of his death to Vanguard. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Efforts to contact Mabel Oboh, the sister of Mighty Mouse, have been unsuccessful. Mabel Oboh serves as the National Publicity Secretary for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Additionally, John had nine other siblings, including Peter Oboh, a former British and Commonwealth Light Heavyweight boxing champion, and Chief Josephine Oboh-Macleod, a well-known art collector, curator, and philanthropist.
Mighty Mouse is the music godfather of Ajegunle City. He created what has come to be known and recognised as Galala music.
