In a recent interview with The Punch, Samuel Tabara, the President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU), shared his perspectives on the frequent incidents of abductions and violence in Kaduna State and the prevailing insecurity situation.
When questioned about the assertion that the perpetrators of these crimes, including kidnappers and bandits, receive support from political figures and that political motives drive these acts, Tabara acknowledged the credibility of such assertions.
He contended that without the patronage of politicians, the persistent challenges of banditry and kidnapping would diminish in the country.

He remarked, “I would not dismiss that because let me remind us of one famous statement from the late General Sani Abacha, which says that if insurgency lasts more than 24 hours, the government must have a hand in it. That statement kept on resonating, and we have seen a few cases where some people in the security agencies have been complicit. Now, you do not rule it out. Yes, these people have sponsors. Some people may use them for power bargain and politics. So, we do not rule it out.”
