The Nigerian Army troops have successfully neutralized a group of terrorists known for using motorbikes to carry out nefarious activities in Kaduna State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops ambushed the terrorists who were in transit to repair their motorbikes.
During the operation on Friday, 4 April 2024, around Kidandan Village, Giwa Local Government of Kaduna State, the Army said its soldiers engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, neutralizing 3 of them.
The operation also led to the recovery of one Ak 47 Rifle, one stock Ak 47 Rifle, 4 motorbikes, and one Motorola Radio.
The Nigerian Army said it remains committed to the ongoing Counter terrorism Counter insurgency Operations to ensure the safety and security of the populace.
“We therefore enjoin members of the public to continue to support Nigerian Army troops and other security operatives as they continue to strive to mitigate security challenges in the country,” the Army added in a statement made available to news men on Saturday.
Nigerian Military Reveals Number Of Terrorists Killed This Year
The Defence Headquarters last week said its troops neutralised no fewer than 2,352 terrorists, apprehended 2,308 and rescued 1,241 kidnapped hostages in different operations nationwide between January and March.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, a major general, made this known in Abuja while giving an update on military operations across the country.
Mr Buba said some of the terrorist commanders killed were Abu Bilal Minuki, aka Abubakar Mainok, the Head of Is-Al Furqan Province of ISGS and ISWAP, and Haruna Isiya Boderi.
He added that some terrorist commanders who operated in Birnin Gwari forest, Kaduna State, and along the Abuja-Kaduna highway were killed by troops on 21 February.
Troops Raid Notorious Terrorists’ kingpin, Hassan Yantagwaye’s Den
The Nigerian Army, last week, announced that its troops deployed for ‘Counter Terrorism Counter Insurgency’ operations in Katsina and Zamfara States raided the den of notorious terrorists’ kingpin, Hassan Yantagwaye, in Tsafe Local Government Area, and neutralized some of his men.
In a video, transcribed by MayerReport and shared by Zagazola security analyst, the terrorists’ kingpin addressed the incident, describing himself as a ‘charm master’ who disappears with his victims.
Yantagwaye further bragged that despite intensified attacks by the army troops which led to the death of his gang members, he and others are still unshakable.
He went ahead claiming in the video that he and his gang members are still carrying out abduction of people on Zamfara roads amid attacks from the Nigerian Army.
Meanwhile, according to the Army, its troops raided Yantagwaye’s enclave resulting in the elimination of significant number of terrorists.
Precisely, the Army said it raided Yantagwaye’s den in Zamfara State, on 29 March, 2024.
The Nigerian Army further said Yantagwaye and his group have been responsible for kidnappings and acts of terrorism in some parts of North West Nigeria.
During the operation, troops overpowered the terrorists in an ensuing gun battle, neutralizing 3 of them and recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition.
In Katsina State, the gallant troops on 30 March 2024 engaged in a fierce gun battle with terrorists in Shawu Kuka, Shinda, Tafki, Gidan Surajo, and Citakushi in Kabai I and Kabai II within Faskari Local Government Area. The troops neutralized 8 terrorists and recovered 3 Locally fabricated guns, military uniforms and a large quantity of stolen grains.
Defense Headquarters Declares Terrorists Wanted
The Defence Headquarters had declared the factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Simon Ekpa wanted alongside 96 others.
Ekpa, alongside no fewer than 96 persons were declared wanted on Friday for commiting violent crimes in the country.
The wanted persons include terrorists and insurgents, among others.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba confirmed the names and pictures of the wanted persons on Friday.
Although, no bounty was placed on the heads of the wanted persons unlike in November 2022 when the military declared no fewer than 19 bandit leaders wanted, MetroHar report says they are wanted dead or alive.
The picture below contains names of terrorists from the North East and North West as well as insurgents in the South-East and North Central.
A total of 43 persons were declared wanted in North West Zone ravaged by banditry, among which are: Alhaji Shingi; Malindi Yakubu; Boka ; Dogo Gide; Halilu Sububu; Ado Aliero ; Bello Turji; Dan Bokkolo; Labi Yadi ; Nagala; Saidu Idris; Kachalla Rugga and Sani Gurgu.
Also, a total of 21 Insurgents and violent criminals were declared wanted in the southeast and North Central Area.
They are Simon Ekpa; Chika Edoziem; Egede; Zuma ; ThankGod; Gentle; Flavour ; Mathew; David Ndubuisi ; High Chief Williams Agbor; Ebuka Nwaka; Friday Ojimka; Obiemesi Chukwudi aka Dan Chuk ; David Ezekwem Chidiebube and Amobi Chinonso Okafor aka Temple among others .
A few days ago, the Federal Government also released the full list of individuals and organizations financing terrorism in Nigeria.
The list released by the Federal Government include Tukur Mamu, a close ally of Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi. CONTINUE READING
