Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Abo, has been kidnapped.

Nairametric reports that Mr Abo was kidnapped between 8pm and 10pm in Zaki Bịam.

The newspaper said the state governor’s chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, confirmed the kidnapping.

“Unfortunately that is the news. The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Abo of Ukum LGA, was reportedly kidnapped,”

According to the newspaper, the gunmen attacked the commissioner’s residence in Zaki-Biam, the administrative headquarters of Ukum local government.

Citing witnesses, the newspaper reports that the attackers arrived on four motorcycles, forcibly entered the Commissioner’s house and fired indiscriminately.

Mr Abo is among the 17 commissioners sworn in as members of the Benue State Executive Council on August 29.
