Honourable Leke Abejide, representing Yagba Constituency of Kogi State in the House of Representatives, in a news by Nigerian Tribune, has appealed to Nigerians to await the fruition of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu’s policies, suggesting a two-year timeframe for tangible results. Addressing concerns over border closures amidst regional instability, Abejide, also the Chairman of the Customs and Excise Committee, emphasized the need to safeguard against insecurity infiltrating Nigeria.
Speaking at a reception in Kano hosted by Yoruba residents, Abejide expressed optimism in Tinubu’s economic strategies, likening the process to childbirth, where pain precedes progress. He underscored Tinubu’s expertise in finance and urged patience amid prevailing hardships, asserting that transformative changes necessitate time.
Abejide’s remarks underscore a broader sentiment within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and echo a call for understanding amidst the administration’s reforms.
While acknowledging citizens’ hardships, he remains confident in Tinubu’s capacity to steer the nation towards economic revitalization. Abejide’s plea for patience reflects a belief in the long-term dividends of Tinubu’s governance, urging citizens to endure short-term challenges for prospective gains.
According to him,
“I have confidence that the Tinubu administration will improve the country’s economy. I have said it before; it’s like when a woman is in labor, there is a lot of pain pending when she delivers.”
