Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi, emphasized his nation’s commitment to avoiding the initiation of any conflict while asserting a resolute response to perceived aggression according to Al Jazeera. In a televised address amid escalating tensions with the United States over Israel’s actions in Gaza, Raisi stated,
“We will not start any war, but if anyone wants to bully us, they will receive a strong response.”
Highlighting a shift in diplomatic rhetoric, Raisi remarked on the changing tone from the United States.
Previously, discussions with Iran involved the mention of a military option being “on the table.” However, the recent statements indicate a purported lack of intention for a conflict with Iran.
Raisi acknowledged this change, stating,
“Before, when they [the Americans] wanted to talk to us, they said the military option is ‘on the table.’ Now they say they have no intention of a conflict with Iran.”
