A wheelbarrow pusher was said to have lost his life on Saturday afternoon when a trailer rammed into his wheelbarrow in the Mile 12 area of Lagos State, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) announced the development on its X handle.
The accident occurred around 2:00 p.m. at Mile12 main carriageway inward Ketu on the ever-busy Ikorodu Road and it involved the trailer which rammed into the wheelbarrow pusher that was moving on the road, causing the death of the man in the process.
It was gathered that the trailer, which was apparently in the Mile 12 Market to discharge the goods inside it, was trying to enter the market through the carriageway when it rammed into the wheelbarrow pusher who was also in the market to carry out his daily duties.
According to LASTMA on its X handle, as the trailer rammed into the wheelbarrow pusher, the man was said to have died on the spot, while the situation caused tension in the area, just as policemen and LASTMA officials were said to be on ground to ensure smooth traffic flow and orderliness in the area.
LASTMA wrote: “An accident occurred at Mile12 main carriageway inward Ketu, it involved a truck and a wheelbarrow pusher. Men of LASTMA and Nigeria Police are on ground to maintain decorum as the victim eventually lost his life.”
