In an interview with ARISE NEWS, Olumide Akpata, a relative and friend of Governor Obaseki, has announced his divergence from Obaseki’s leadership approach.
Refuting any affiliation as an agent, mole, or representative of Obaseki, Akpata criticizes the governor’s governance style for lacking empathy and compassion.
Expressing strong dissent, Akpata highlights his decision to contest for the governorship under the Labour Party banner in Edo State.
He aims to challenge both Obaseki’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and his previous affiliation with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpata’s declaration underscores a significant schism within Edo State politics, as he positions himself as a voice of opposition to Obaseki’s administration.
His candidacy symbolizes a broader discontent with prevailing governance structures, aiming to offer an alternative vision for the state’s future.
He said:
“I am Not Obaseki’s Agent, Mole or Representative, I totally disagree with Governor Obaseki’s style of leadership even though he’s my relative and friend. There’s no empathy or compassion in his style of governance.
We are not on the same page hence my decision to run for governorship in the Labour Party to show Obaseki and the PDP as well as the APC where he was before that they have gotten governance all wrong.
