Your brain has the ability to store information and retrieve it later. This is what we call memory.

At times your memory may falter (lose its ability or strength) causing us to panic. But worrying about it won’t help. Instead, it would be better to take action and train your brain. This can be done at any age by following the tips below to the letter.

1. Physical Activity

Sports are known to increase blood flow to the brain as well as improve mental agility. For older people, this method has been proven to reduce memory loss. Exercise helps with your cognitive capacities such as spatial memory9e.g remembering where you left your car keys several hours after leaving them). So, if you adhere to a strict routine of jogging, jumping, cycling, and running, you will definitely see an improvement in your intellectual performance.

2. Meditate

Meditation aids in sorting out your thoughts. It reduces problems with lack of concentration and improves your ability to memorize. But for this to work, you have to practice it regularly. There are several guides on the internet to help you with your meditation routine.

3. Play

Involving yourself with games such as chess, scrabble, monopoly, and card games will significantly stimulate your memorization and concentration skills. In fact, there are games both for children and adults. It would not be a shame at all to engage in any of them. Although if you don’t have a playmate you can choose to try crossword puzzles or sudoku.

4. Read and Re-read

It’s not enough to just learn things. It is important to understand what you’re reading by heart. To memorize things you need to read, rephrase, or even say them aloud. In the process of reading and re-reading, your memory performance is improved.

5. Eat Healthy

A balanced diet is vital when it comes to the functioning of our brain. Foods rich in Omega 3 such as salmon and fish are known for boosting brain activity. Reasonable caffeine consumption can also increase concentration. Avoid alcohol or any illegal drug for that matter, foods with added refined sugars and deep-fried food.

There are many other ways to ensure you have optimal brain activity but the ones listed above are the simplest ones that can be practiced by anyone of any age group.
