Ghanaian YouTube personality and content creator Bernard Kwadwo Amoafo, popularly known as Kwadwo Sheldon, has made a bold statement regarding the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to Daily Post, after Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a 1-0 victory over Angola in the quarterfinal, Sheldon insisted that Ghanaians cannot allow Nigeria to win the AFCON trophy.
Following the match, where Ademola Lookman scored the decisive goal in the 41st minute, Sheldon congratulated the Super Eagles but emphasised that if Nigeria clinches the AFCON trophy, Ghanaians are metaphorically ‘dead.’
This declaration underscores the intense football rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria, as fans often express strong emotions during such competitions.
Nigeria’s triumph over Angola means they advance to the semi-finals, awaiting the outcome of the Cape Verde versus South Africa clash to determine their semi-final opponent.
The lone goal in the quarter-final was scored by Lookman, who connected with Moses Simon’s cross.
Sheldon said,
“Congratulations to Nigerians; they are through to the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations. The way the thing they go is like they go win the trophy (sic).
“I dey come tell you people that we can’t allow Nigerians to win the Africa Cup of Nations because if they win the Africa Cup of Nations, we are dead. We are gone.”
