A former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo has stated that former military Head of State, Yakubu Gowon who is Christian severed the relationship between Nigeria and Israel. He also said it was former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) who is a Muslim that reestablished the relationship between Nigeria and Israel.
Asari Dokubo made this statement while reacting to Sheikh Gumi’s call for the sack of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike over his meeting with the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria.
In a video Asari Dokubo shared on his Facebook page, he said: “Is it not a Muslim, Ibrahim Babangida that recognized the State of Israel and is it not Gowon, a Christian that severed the relationship with Israel. You people should not think we are fools. Ahmad Gumi, what you are saying is not an Islamic interest, Abuja does not belong to you. Please leave Wike alone, he is not Babangida who reestablished the relationship with Israel. So if a Christian welcomes the Ambassador that Babaginda brought to Nigeria you will now say he should be removed”.
