In an interview on NTA’s “Conversations With History” program, former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari mentioned that despite his attempts to stay away from the nation’s capital, he still receives visitors from different parts of the country. He expressed his surprise at the continued influx of visitors and said, “People charter buses and come to see me from time to time. I thought I had stayed as far away from Abuja as possible, but they still come.”
When asked about his nostalgia for his time in office, he downplayed it and stated, “Miss? I don’t think I miss much.” He had expressed similar doubts six months before handing over power to his successor, Bola Tinubu, in December 2022. At the time, he stated that he believed he was doing his best, but still, his best was not good enough, and he wondered if he was going to miss much.
