A prominent chieftain of the APC, Hilliard Etta, has suggested to Nigerians and the president that the death penalty should be imposed as a sanction for financial crimes. Speaking on AIT, the politician explained the reasons for his suggestion.
Addressing the topic, Etta said,
“You and I know the penalty for financial crimes in China. I want to make a suggestion to Nigerians, the president, and the national assembly. I suggest that we make the death penalty the sanction for financial crime.
I want us to craft the law because a few moments ago, there was almost a revolution that the youths must take leadership, and one would have thought that the youths would come with a different mindset, but we have seen that they are perhaps worse in terms of financial management.
He added,
“I am trying to say that I do not see any section of Nigeria’s population different from the other.
In a situation like this, we need laws that will deter people from mismanaging our common wealth. I suggest the death penalty for corruption.
