According to her, she was born and raised in Machakos, and after form four she did a librarian course. After she completed her friend connected her with a job in Nairobi and the next day she went but was late and the job was given to another person.

Irene says that since she didn’t want to go back to the village she looked for someone to employ her as a house girl and found one but she had forgotten her ID at home and that lady gave her fare to go back home so she could get the ID.

Upon arriving at the stage she had lost her fare and she got starred while there she saw a tractor driving and she asked him if he was going to Machakos and luckily he was going there and he offered her a ride.

She says that when they approached a certain forest at night the man started to undress and he asked her to sleep with her but she refused and that was when the driver threw her out of the tractor and drove off. left, As she was there waiting for another car a hyena jumped on her and it attacked her.

A good Samaritan saw her and he called the help from the police officers who were a few kilometers away and when they hooted on the hyena it ran away. She was taken to the hospital one of her hands was cut because it was completely damaged she spent 3 months in hospital and later she was discharged.

She regrets refusing to sleep with the driver because she could not have faced all that. She now lives in her mother’s house and depends on her since she can’t work and this makes her cry since she wanted to help her mother but now she depends on her.
