On Saturday, Professor Usman Yusuf, a former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), expressed his surprise that, despite the nation’s worsening economic conditions, the South Eastern region of the nation has remained silent.
Even so, he pleaded with the President to purchase food, fill the market, and feed the populace before it’s too late. While answering questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Saturday, Yusuf disclosed this.
According to the DAILY POST, there have been protests against the rising rate of hunger in various regions of the nation, primarily in the north and west.
The calm that has persisted in the South East, though, surprised Yusuf.
“I honestly don’t know why the South East is quiet, unusually quiet,” he remarked.
However, the President must inquire. I know I live in the North because that’s where my ancestry is. More people die from silence in the North than any other part of the nation. And that’s something the President needs to hear.
