Three men who were said to have concealed various types of banned drugs inside a bus have been arrested by men of the Delta State Police Command during stop and search carried out at a road in the state, the command announced on its X handle on Thursday.
The three men, whose names were given as Lucky Emmanuel, aged 40 years; Enunwuune Snu, aged 46 years and Jacob Efedeye, aged 32 years, were arrested by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the command while conducting stop and search at the Asaba end of the Head-Bridge.
It was gathered that the operatives flagged down the Toyota Hiace bus and decided to conduct a search on it. During the search, the said banned psychotropic drugs were said to have been recovered from the vehicle while the three men were promptly arrested.
The arrested men as well as some of the items said to have been recovered from the bus, as posted by the state police command on Thursday.
According to a statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, on Thursday, the banned drugs said to have been discovered hidden in the bus were three cartons containing 100 bottles of Codeine and 400 sachets of 250mg Tramadol as well as some other drugs.
The statement added that the men had given more useful information about where they were bringing the drugs from and their destination to the police operatives and they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
