Senator Shehu Sani has issued a bold statement regarding the economic turmoil gripping Nigeria. The nation’s high cost of living, exacerbated by recent policy decisions under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, has prompted Sani to call for urgent action.
Since assuming office, President Tinubu’s moves to end fuel subsidy and float the naira have triggered a sharp spike in living expenses for ordinary citizens.
The cost of petrol has tripled, contributing to a staggering inflation rate of 28.92 percent, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Additionally, food prices have surged by 33.93 percent, further burdening households across the country.
Despite government assurances that these reforms would attract foreign investment and strengthen the economy in the long term, the immediate repercussions have been deeply felt by Nigerians struggling to make ends meet.
President Tinubu has defended these measures as necessary steps towards economic revitalization. However, the adverse effects on the populace underscore the need for intervention.
