a group, the Nigerian Intellectual Elite Youth Association (IEYAN), has declared his support for the policies of President Bola Tinubu.
The group said it supported Tinubu’s policies, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the Naira.
The removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the Naira have brought untold hardship to Nigerians, including skyrocketing transportation fares, a rise in the price of food, and an appreciable loss in the value of the Naira against to the US dollar.
Although the federal government and some state governments have implemented some relief measures, Nigerians grumble as they lament the excruciating cost of living.
The group reiterated its support for Mr. Tinubu and his federal government led by the Congress of All Progressives on Saturday during its conference for women and youth in Abuja.
The group’s chairman, Azeez Balogun, in his speech, congratulated its members on the success recorded in the last general elections which “led to the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all other candidates under the APC platform that emerged victorious in the last General Election in 2023, this could not have been possible without their collective efforts.”
The group said it is incumbent on its members spread across the country to sensitize Nigerians to the benefits and gains of Tinubu’s policies, while acknowledging that opposition elements and opponents of the APC-led government are taking advantage of of the “temporary difficulties caused by the introduction of these economic policies to incite Nigerians against Mr. President and APC in general.”
“We have not yet succeeded if we give in at this time; the success of this Noble Youth Association depends on the success of the government headed by President Tinubu because we campaigned vigorously for its rise, and we must not sit idly by while members of the opposition are doing their best to present this administration in a negative light . Balogun said.
More Opportunities, Dating For Nigerian Youth
The group also called on President Tinubu to nominate more young Nigerians, including its members, worthy of appointment to various agency and parastatal boards of the federal government.
He also said he needed the support of the Tinubu-led administration to give youth more opportunities to enhance full participation in government by creating a conducive environment for them to showcase their political and administrative skills.
The group also called on the government to create more capacity building opportunities for its members and other young Nigerians so that they can fully contribute their quota to building the nation.
