The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, issued a statement on Thursday directing the verification and biometric capturing of all local government workers in the state. The directive was made through Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Government.
The verification committee will be inaugurated on December 1, 2023, at the Government House in Enugu, and the verification exercise will commence on the same day and continue until the end of February 2024. The verification committee will make random visits to any of the 17 local governments in the state on any working day of the week.
All local government workers are required to be present for the verification exercise with their appointment letters and work schedules. Those who are absent or found to not be fulfilling the terms of their employment will no longer be considered government employees.
Furthermore, all local governments are directed to submit their attendance lists for the previous week to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government every Wednesday via email at ssg@enugustate.gov.ng.
