According to Obinna Aguocha, the President of the House of Representatives Committee for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Results of the Permanent and Ad Hoc Committees, there will be a thorough evaluation of key government initiatives.
This will help to address any gaps or inefficiencies in ministry departments and agencies (MDAs). Mr. Aguocha, who represents Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South of Abia State, made this statement in Abuja on Monday.
He said that the House of Representatives would carry out its basic legislative, representational and supervisory functions. Additionally, the 10th Assembly is committed to changing the way things are done in the country.
In order to ensure the effectiveness of ad hoc committees, their performance will be evaluated by the House against their intended objectives and timelines. Any issues hindering the smooth functioning of the MDAs will be addressed and resolved.
Additionally, the committees will be required to adhere to their terms of reference. To foster transparency and accountability, quarterly reports will be introduced, information will be made publicly accessible, and technology will be utilized. These measures will be implemented by Aguocha.
