As per Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Bola Tinubu’s ascent to the presidency of Nigeria was a divine mandate from God. Despite their prominence, Mr. Shettima recognized the existence of individuals with superior abilities and lineage.
He stressed that their leadership roles are not attributed to their physical strength or family background, but rather a divine gift and duty to serve humanity for a brief period. Additionally, the Vice-President reaffirmed Mr. Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing the lives of Nigerians and advancing the country’s prosperity.
During a meeting with the University of Ibadan Postgraduate School alumni and members of the 1989/1990 set of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Shettima expressed his belief that serving in a position of power is a humbling experience. He acknowledged that he and Asiwaju hold important positions in the country not because of their intelligence or political skills, but purely by the grace of God.
Mr. Shettima went on to state that the impact they make in the lives of Nigerians will determine their legacy in this life and the hereafter, and that it is an opportunity to add value to the nation. He also emphasized the need to improve the quality of governance in Nigeria to mitigate any potential demographic issues caused by the anticipated population growth.
